Re: Euro Lammy Spain
I'm definitely up for Euro Lammy and my choice would be as much riding there and back as possible and minimal cheating by ferry

Re: Euro Lammy Spain
Stuart, Darell and Dave Blythe are talking about riding back, the majority are ferrying as we can only afford 7 days off annual leave the riding would cost us at least 14 days

Re: Euro Lammy Spain
Here are some mileages (one-way) to Gijon to help with planning:
Calais 900
Cherbourg 802
Le Havre 786
St. Malo 703
Bilbao 169
Santander 109
Getting the ferry to Spain and then back from France could turn out to be expensive unless the LCGB can do a deal on one-way tickets. I'm up for St. Malo there and back. Reckon it can be done in less than 14 days but David B will know best having done LEJOG.

Sorry Stuart I cannot do it with my annual leave, the ferry is nearly 12 hours alone by the time you dock then say 250 miles a day for the best part of 1600 miles (include here to Portsmouth) and 3 or 4 days at the rally, my maths is 2 days for the crossings plus 3 at the rally (5) and 7 on the road as I said 10 days annual and a weekend in between.

Re: Euro Lammy Spain
It would seem that there will probably be a number of people going via different routes. Stuart i'm sure if you want to go the long way round there would be a nunber from this area who would be up for it - at a guess David Blythe to name one! I'm with Bryan on this one - in so much as I couldn't afford the time. It's all still to be decided though.

Keep an eye on this link the ferry timetables have been published and Nic Cicutti with Toot is doing his usual great job getting us a discount

Re: Euro Lammy Spain
Had a look at the Brittany Ferries Portsmouth-Santander sailings a rider and Lammy on a recliner out at 11.00 am on Wednesday 9th June arrive Thursday 11.00 local time and back on the next Monday 14th June at 16.30 arrives 17.00 on Tuesday 15th June, £171
gives us 4 clear nights in Spain for 5 days annual. Wait and see how much Nick gets off.
Im tempted by a cheap hotel somewhere up the coast and a day and a half to explore on the Sunday/Monday

I am tempted to get on and book the ferry, rather than waiting for an LCGB deal. There are no other sailings that fit in with the dates that we want to go.

Re: Euro Lammy Spain
I'll be down on Wednesday.
I'm just wondering how many people these ferries take. The dates Bryan mentioned are the ones we want (unless anyone else found any others) as there are only a couple of days each week that you can travel on this route. If the LCGB negotiate a deal with this company I think we want to be in a position to book as soon as it is announced so we don't miss out; I would just as soon pay the full price to ensure a space than try to save a few quid and miss the boat. Literally!
£171, with a reclining seat, seems OK to me.
How much was the LCGB discount last time? I can't imagine it was a huge amount (though I appreciate the effort they put in on our behalf).
Anyhow, see you all on Wednesday (with my new, quieter, exhaust! Unless I develop another problem, that is).

Re: Euro Lammy Spain
Ive booked through Nutt travel for Derek C Derek Howes and Paul Pearce 214.50 each for a 4 berth. If you phone Nutt on 028 7035 1199 ask for Rita and state you want to be put in with the Connor party. We are Wednesday 9th June out and Monday 14th June back, on the http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/fleet/pont-aven
looks like a boat too nice for me.
The other option is the P+O boat which takes 36 hours and lands in Bilbao the Plymouth route is out as it lands in Spain on a Sunday
apparently there is room for 200 bikes which are filling up fast so unless we have a van, get in now

put the scoots in a van at the dock its the same price for a van and 4 as 4 scoots. Has Nick J still got access to a van The rest of the guys would pay the diesel and tolls etc.
Just a thought to get you onto the ferry (plus we have a tame Vespa guy can drive, Darren )

Re: Euro Lammy Spain
Red, Nic Cicutti has blocked booked 140 places for the LCGB that have a discount attached, see the LCGB site for details of the booking code.
Youll be on that ferry with your Scomadi mate see if they will book you with a Peter Pooley (the original Cheetah at the Bombay)

Re: Euro Lammy Spain
All booked.
Myself, Dave H, Nick J and Peter Pooley out on the 9th, back on the 14th.
I've emailed David Blythe the details, and asked him to include ScooterLoopy John in his booking, hopefully this will all work out OK.
Very impressed with Nutt Travel, very professional.
Thanks to Bryan and Nic for their efforts regarding this, much appreciated.
Now, to build a new bike for Spain.......................

Most excellent
Red is booking a 2 berth as I cannot get a hold of that most elusive loydie man to confirm whether he has got a place or not.
PS Road Captain Blythe and Scooterloopy are infamous snorers, in the Jeremy Nice league are they in the bilge pump room
